Now, what is known as full auto insurance coverage in Texas is insurance that includes the state-mandated coverages we described in the previous section, plus additional coverages such as:
- Collision coverage. Helps pay to repair or replace your vehicle if it’s hit by another vehicle.
- Comprehensive coverage. Covers damage caused by incidents other than collision (for example, theft, fire, flood, or vandalism).
- Medical payments coverage. Covers your and your passengers’ medical bills.
- Uninsured/underinsured motorist coverage. Helps if you are in an accident and the other driver doesn’t have insurance, or doesn’t have enough coverage to pay for the damages.
As you can see, full coverage auto insurance offers protection against some of the most common (and costly) accidents.
However, despite its name, full coverage doesn’t include every single risk you face behind the wheel.
